ORANGE CITY, Iowa | Nathan Wedel and Colton Kooima combined for 45 points as the No. 11 (NAIA) and third-seeded Northwestern men’s basketball team defeated seventh-seeded Doane 77-63 in the semifinals of the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament here Saturday.

Wedel finished with 25 points and seven rebounds while Kooima notched 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Derek Buysse had 16 points for Northwestern (25-5).

Nick Kornieck led Doane (14-18) with a game-high 27 points and Anthony Laravie added 10.

The Red Raiders dished out 10 assists and committed just five turnovers while Doane had only three assists and committed a whopping 17 turnovers.

Northwestern plays No. 6 and top-seeded Morningside in the championship game of the GPAC tournament on Tuesday in Sioux City.
