VERMILLION, S.D. -- Western Illinois hit 12 three-pointers and snapped South Dakota's long home-court win streak with Saturday's 86-78 Summit League triumph inside the Sanford Sports Center.

Morgan Blumer hit six three-pointers and scored 28 points as the Leathernecks ended the Coyotes 24-game home winning streak.

Emily Clemens added 24 points for Western Illinois, now 16-6 overall and 6-3 and one game back in the Summit League.

Allison Arens had 27 points for South Dakota, which remained in a tie for the Summit League lead at 7-2 due to Omaha hitting a buzzer beater to knock off South Dakota State.

It was the first loss inside the Sports Center for the Coyotes (18-4, 7-2).

“This was an eye-opening experience for our team,” said USD head coach Dawn Plitzuweit. “All season long, we have worked on developing the ability to do more than one thing on the court. Western Illinois is a team that plays five true guards. To match them, you either have to go at them or be able to take advantage of them inside. This experience will help us in learning how to read our opponents and make decisions.”

Jaycee Bradley added 13 points and Kate Liveringhouse 11 for the Coyotes, who have just two home games in the final seven regular season contests.
