ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Northwestern upped its women's basketball win streak to eight by racing past Morningside 83-60 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference contest Wednesday at the Bultman Center.
The 10th-ranked Red Raiders raced to a 33-6 lead after one quarter and moved to 16-5 overall and 11-2 in the GPAC.
Kassidy De Jong led the way with 23 points and eight rebounds for Northwestern team that shot 56.9 percent from the field.
Haley Birks and Anna Kiel added 13 points apiece while NAIA assist leader Renee Maneman tallied a career-high 14 helpers as the Red Raiders avenged an earlier loss to Morningside and remained alone in second place in the GPAC.
Maneman, a senior, added a season-high eight rebounds for a Northwestern team that outrebounded the Mustangs 41-26.
Madison Braun tallied a career-high 38 points in the loss for 13th-ranked Morningside (17-7, 10-4). Braun, who has reached double figures in all but one game this season, hit eight three-pointers, a career-high.
