ORANGE CITY, Iowa | Nathan Wedel scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as he helped guide No. 11 Northwestern past No. 9 Morningside 66-57 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference men's basketball game at the Bultman Center Wednesday.
Derek Buysse also scored 16 points and Riley Francis 10 for the Raiders (18-4 overall and 8-4 GPAC). Northwestern led 31-23 at the half and held a safe lead the rest of the way.
Morningside was a frigid 3-23 on 3-point shots and hit on just 34.0 percent of its shots from the field (18-53). Trey Brown scored 10 points to lead the way for the Mustangs (17-5 overall and 9-3 GPAC).
Morningside dropped a game behind Briar Cliff in the GPAC standings and will host the Chargers on Saturday.
