HASTINGS, Neb. | Paced by all-tournament selection Brooke Bomgaars, Morningside College’s women’s bowling team finished third at the Bronco Open, hosted Saturday and Sunday by Hastings College.
A freshman from Sioux City, Bomgaars finished third in the women’s individual standings with 1,138 pins for a 188 average. She rolled her high score of the tournament with a 220 in her finale and also topped the 200 mark with a 206 in her third game.
Four other Mustangs finished among the top 15 – Marie Sitz (9th, 1,082), Emma Sonier (12th, 1,037), Abigail Harling (13th, 1,032) and Alexander Gluck (14th, 1,018).
Morningside’s men took fifth at the tournament. Alex Eukovich knocked down 1,205 pins to finish seventh in the individual standings. Eukovich topped 200 in four of his six games with a high of 245 in his finale.
Tommy Croskey’s eighth-place 1,201 included a 228 high while Matthew Hystad’s 13th-place 1,156 was highlighted by a 230. Jorge Loredo Duran had the Mustangs’ highest scores with a 246 in both his fourth and sixth games.
Morningside’s junior varsity women finished first while the JV men took third.
Morningside’s season continues Dec. 2-3 with the Morningside Mustang Invitational.
