NORTH SIOUX CITY -- William Penn leads Morningside by six strokes after the first round of the Lila Frommelt Fall Classic at Two Rivers Golf Club in North Sioux City on Friday.
The Statesmen shot a 306 while the Mustangs had a 312. Northwestern is third with a 326 and host Briar Cliff is fourth with a 328.
The Mustangs are led by Samantha Knight who is tied for fourth with a 76 with Northwestern's Chanda Zomermaand.
Morningside's Alex Mankle is in eighth after carding a 78 while Mikaela Livengood and Maria Nava both sit in ninth place after shooting 79. Maria Zorrilla recorded an 80 to sit in a tie for 13th place.
Briar Cliff's Arianna Presilla is in seventh place after shooting a 77. Nicole Hemelberg is tied for 13th with an 80.
Buena Vista is led by Emily Kim's 82 as she sits in a tie for 18th. Dordt is paced by Alyssa Fedders who is tied for 29th with an 85.
William Penn's Brittany Evans and Elise Warne are tied at the top with matching rounds of 73. St. Mary's Hannah Murosi is third with a 75 and the Statemen's Bailee Frayne is part of the tie for fourth with a 76.
The two-day tournament concludes Saturday.
