COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- It was a three-peat for Bishop Heelan and Crusader junior Amber Aesoph at the Missouri River Activities Conference meet at Iowa Western Community College Thursday.

Heelan easily won the title over Sioux City East, 22-74, while Aesoph posted her first victory over Black Raider freshman Kaia Downs of the season. Aesoph won in a time of 19:35 while Downs was the runner-up in 20:26.

The Crusaders had five runners in the top seven with seniors Madison Jochum, Hannah Hutchinson and Ashely Aesoph finishing third, fifth and sixth, respectively, while Mia Conley was seventh.

The Sioux City North boys went 1-2 at the finish line to claim the MRAC title over Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson, 26-64, with Sergeant Bluff-Luton taking third.

Sophomores led the way for the Stars with Jaysen Bouwers winning in 16:32 and Colin Greenwell taking second in 17:27. Luke Benson finished fifth for North in 17:46 while Will Lohr was seventh in 17:47.

The Warrior boys were led to the line by Gabe Hannemam's ninth-place effort in 17:48. SB-L also had Drew Marksbury, Ty Shoulders and Payden Hofer finish 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively.

West took fourth in the team race and was led by Rey Gonzalez's time of 17:47 to earn sixth. Deven Henry took 10th in 17:49 for the Wolverines.

Sioux City East was fifth in the team race as Jake Vakulskas was 19th and Heelan was led to the line by John Gree's 16th-place effort.

The Black Raiders girls saw Katie Lammers finish 13th in 21:42 while Karlee Philips and Sydney Helt took were 15th and 16th.

The North girls, who finished fifth, were led by Lillian Garay's fourth-place effort in 20:55. Sergeant Bluff-Luton saw Leila Laureno take 11th in 21:39 as the Warriors were sixth as a team.

West was led by Holland Larned and Madison Evans, who finished 39th and 40th, respectively.
