PELLA, Iowa -- Running against a deep and talented field that included athletes from several states the Bishop Heelan girls cross country team finished 17th out of a 26 team field while Sioux City North finished 23rd.
Amber Aesoph led the Crusaders to the line in 21st place with a time of 20 minutes, 27.8 seconds. Madison Jochum finished 88th in 22:13.8 and Hannah Hutchinson was 92nd in 22:16.0. Ashley Aesoph finished in 22:33.6, Mia Conley ran 22:33.6, Brenna Joyce came to the line in 22:47.5 and Emma Hutchinson finished in 23:02.8.
The Stars were led by Emma Kelley in 95th place with a time of 22:18.4. Lillian Garay finished in 23:43.1, Nicole Zuehl had a time of 24:26.3 and Christina had a 24:39.3.
On the boys side, the Stars finished 19th while Heelan was 25th.
North was led by Jaysen Bouwers who finished 24th in 16:54.4 and Colin Greenwell who was 97th in 18:09.7. Dakota South ran a 18:23.9, Nick Walters had a 18:25.4 and Will Lohr had an 18:30.1.
The Crusaders saw Charlie Saulsbury lead the way in 18th with a time of 16:47.5. John Greer ran 18:19.7, Cole Satterwhite finished in 20:06.1 and Tony Guerra had a 20:39.0.
Edina (Minn.) won the boys team title while Johnston held off Waukee and Southeast Polk for the girls crown.
