NORTH SIOUX CITY - No. 1-ranked Dakota Valley (Class 11A) got two touchdown runs and held Tri-Valley scoreless until the fourth quarter as it won 25-7 Friday evening.
The Panthers carried a 18-0 lead into the intermission thanks to touchdown runs by Sam Chesterman (1 yard) and Eric Johnson (4 yards) and a 34-yard field goal by Trey Bowen in the second frame.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Mustangs converted a difficult situation to start the final period, taking the ball the length of the field on a 99-yard run by Luke Lofswold, his only run of the night. Tri-Valley ended the evening with just 158 yards of total offense.
Chesterman answered with a 12-yard scoring run with 7:30 left in the game as Dakota Valley moved to 4-0 going into a game at Milbank next Friday. The Mustangs are winless after four games this season.
