South Central Calhoun (9-1) at Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley (9-1)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Hull, Iowa
BRIEFLY: The top-ranked Nighthawks are coming off a convincing 37-14 victory over Carroll Kuemper. Cade Moser led the way with 116 yards receiving and a touchdown. BHRV used its running game to good use as quarterback J.T. Van't Hul ran for two scores and Elliot Van Kekerix also found the end zone twice. Van't Hul threw for 221 yards, a score and two picks. No. 7 South Central Calhoun was a 37-7 winner over Sioux Center in the opening round. Chase McAllister ran for 106 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries while Jonathon Frantz had 91 yards on the ground and two trips to the end zone. SCC had four interceptions and two fumble recoveries against the Warriors.
Western Christian (8-2) at West Lyon (10-0)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Inwood
BRIEFLY: The No. 1-ranked Wildcats won the regular season matchup between the two teams 55-14. Only Class 2A No. 1 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley scored more than 14 points on West Lyon this season. Jaden Snyder was an efficient 8 of 11 for 145 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-0 win over IKM-Manning 35-0 last Friday. Monte Pottebaum ran for 80 yards and two TDs. West Lyon forced three fumbles. The eighth-ranked Wolfpack, the defending Class 1A state champions, rallied from a 10-7 second-half deficit to beat AHSTW 28-18. Ben Granstra was back at it in the postseason as he ran for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Caleb Harmsen also threw for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
West Hancock (7-3) at West Sioux (10-0)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Hawarden
BRIEFLY: Top-ranked West Sioux looked every bit the dominant force in its 63-6 victory over Sioux Central. The Falcons are led by one of the best all-around athletes in the state in Jake Lynott, who accounted for seven touchdowns last Friday. The West Sioux defense put one big hit after another on Sioux Central runners forcing six fumbles, recovering four. West Hancock upset previously undefeated Bishop Garrigan 26-12 in round one. West Hancock did not throw a pass in Friday's victory as Tate Hagen ran for 225 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. MaCoy Yeakel added 115 yards on the ground.
Le Mars Gehlen (8-2) at C.B. St. Albert (9-1)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Council Bluffs
BRIEFLY: The Jays knocked off No. 2 Southwest Valley 34-14 as Adam Ellensohn was able to grind out 166 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns. Quarterback Cole Wiltgen threw for 88 yards and two more scores. Wiltgen and Elijah Freking also had an interception each. The Falcons shut out Westwood 27-0 to advance. Quarterback Kyle Barnes threw three touchdown passes and ran for a 53-yard touchdown for No. 5 St. Albert.
Remsen St. Mary's (9-0) at Audubon (10-0)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Audubon
BRIEFLY: The second-ranked Hawks overwhelmed Boyer Valley 58-13 behind the running duo of Canaan Cox and Tyler Brimm. Cox ran for 197 yards and Brimm 123 as both found the end zone four times apiece. Cox is fourth in eight-player with 1,549 yards rushing and second with 31 touchdowns. No. 3 Audubon rallied to down Newell-Fonda 45-33. Josh Lange ran for 153 yards while the Audubon defense forced a pair of fumbles that were recovered.
