BRIEFLY: Sergeant Bluff-Luton looks to maintain its spot atop the district standings when it faces Class 3A's top passer in Spirit Lake quarterback Nicholas Christensen, who ranks 12th in all classes with 1,544 yards. Sergeant Bluff-Luton junior Britton Delperdang ranks third in Class 3A in rushing with 1,117 yards. Spirit Lake needs a win to keep its slim playoff hopes alive.
North (0-7) at Des Moines Roosevelt (3-4)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Des Moines
BRIEFLY: North looks to end its 15-game losing streak dating back to last season's opening victory over West. The Stars were held to 165 total yards in last week's setback to Johnston. Jayse Martineck has rushed for 626 yards while Noah Bootsma and Matt Hagan lead the defense. Roosevelt has dropped three straight, including last week's tense 30-27 decision to Sioux City East.
Bishop Heelan (5-2) at Humboldt (2-5)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Humboldt
BRIEFLY: Heelan needs a victory to keep playoff hopes alive as it faces the long trek to Humboldt. Running back Saybein Clark ranks fifth in Class 3A with 953 yards rushing. Clark had four touchdowns in last week's 42-6 win over Algona. Humboldt has dropped three straight since downing Spencer to begin district play. Eli Mollet paces the Crusaders defense in tackles.
East (3-4) at Des Moines East (2-5)
WHEN: 7 p.m., Des Moines
BRIEFLY: East kept its playoff hopes alive with last week's win over Des Moines Roosevelt as both quarterback Steve Siebersma and running back James Page went over 100 yards rushing in the game. Siebersma also threw for 162 yards and leads the Black Raiders in both categories with 1,028 yards passing and 479 yards rushing. Des Moines East's lone two wins are against Sioux City North and Des Moines North, a pair of 0-7 teams.
Blair (4-3) at South Sioux City (0-7)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., South Sioux City
BRIEFLY: All seven previous South Sioux City opponents have at least three wins and this week is no different. Cardinals' quarterback Nate Canoles has thrown for 560 yards while Dathon Klassen leads the rushing attack with 205 yards. Klassen is also the team's leading tackler. Blair has won two straight games after posting wins over Plattsmouth and Schuyler the last two weeks.
Dakota Valley (7-0) at Lennox (1-6)
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m., Lennox
BRIEFLY: Dakota Valley's defense, behind Cole Schulz and Brennan Moran, held West Central to just 90 total yards in last week's 35-2 victory, the third time this season the unit has yielded a touchdown or less in a game. The Panthers offense, meanwhile, has scored at least 20 points in every behind the quarterback play of Zack Poulson and running attack of Austin Carter, Nathan Rice, Sam Chesterman and Jake Likeness.
