MAPLETON, Iowa -- A trio of 100-yard rushers propelled Woodbury Central to a 36-6 victory over MVAOCOU, spoiling the Rams' homecoming night at Bill Mac Field in Mapleton.
Quarterback Garrett Arment, a senior, paced the Wildcat attack with 122 yard on eight carries. Classmate Wade Mitchell added 101 yards on 14 attempts, while junior Jacob Kuntz piled up 111 yards on nine totes. Mitchell had two touchdowns; Arment and Kuntz accounted for one apiece.
Woodbury Central's Ethan Copeland returned a punt 70 yards to paydirt. The visitors also blocked a punt deep in MVAOCO territory and junior Mitchell Countryman booted a 20-yard field goal as the Wildcats boosted their season's mark to 3-1.
Cayden Henderson, a junior, scored a Rams touchdown on a 4-yard scamper during the fourth quarter. Senior Bryce Kafton, the homecoming king, recorded a game-high 17 tackles for the Rams, who fell to 1-3 on the season.
The Rams host Underwood on Friday; Woodbury Central travels to Tri-Center, Neola.
SIOUX CENTRAL 31, SOUTH O'BRIEN 6: Jake Hanson passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Rebels to a win in a prep football game played in Sioux Rapids Friday.
Hanson connected with Prestan Samson for scoring strikes covering 34 and two yards and also scored on runs of 34 and 47 yards. Tristan Wilson scored on a 47-yard run for the Wolverines.
Sioux Central is 3-1 while South O'Brien falls to 1-3.
CENTRAL LYON/GLR 28, WESTERN CHRISTIAN 6: Quarterback Lucas Nagel rushed for 147 yards to lead the Lions to a win over the Wolfpack in a game played in Hull Friday.
Nagel scored on a 77-yard run in the second quarter to give Central Lyon/GLR a 21-0 lead at the half and also hooked up with Austin Metzger for a 18-yard TD pass. Metzger also added a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter to give the Lions a 28-0 lead.
Carter Broek hooked up with Carter Kooi for a 46-yard scoring pass for account for Western Christian's points.
OABCIG 32, STORM LAKE 22: Kaden Ladwig passed for 259 yards and three touchdowns to lead the No. 10 Falcons (Class 2A) to a win over the Tornadoes in a game played in Ida Grove Friday.
Ladwig threw TD passes to Jake Nieman (3 yards) , Cooper DeJean (18 yards) and Easton Harms (12 yards) as OABCIG moved to 4-0 on the season. Ladwig also scored on runs of one and 33 yards. Storm Lake drops to 3-1.
WEST SIOUX 61, GEHLEN CATHOLIC 0: The No. 5 Falcons (Class 1A) got six touchdown passes from quarterback Hunter Dekkers and rolled to a win over the Jays in a game played in Le Mars Friday.
Chase Koopmans hauled in four of Dekkers' scoring passes and had 146 yards receiving on the night. Kade Lynott also had two touchdown receptions for West Sioux (3-1).
REMSEN ST. MARY'S 53, RIVER VALLEY 14: The Hawks won their third game in a row as Blaine Harpenau had more than 200 yards on the ground and accounted for four touchdowns.
River Valley falls to 1-3.
HINTON 31, LOGAN-MAGNOLIA 14: Braden Vonk threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns as Hinton defeated Logan-Magnolia 31-14 on Friday in Hinton.
Kyle Brighton had three catches for 60 yards and two touchdowns for Hinton (4-0). Brighton caught touchdown passes of nine and 31 yards. Andrew Hessa made a 40-yard field goal.
Wyatt Wohlers had touchdown runs of one and three yards for Logan-Magnolia (1-3).
WEST LYON 39, MOC-FLOYD VALLEY 0: Gavin Lorenzen threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns as the West Lyon football team defeated MOC-Floyd Valley 39-0 on Friday in Orange City.
Logan Mayer had 63 yards rushing with a 4-yard touchdown run and a 77-yard touchdown reception for West Lyon (3-1).
Josiah Jansen had 62 receiving yards for MOC-Floyd Valley (0-4).
WESTWOOD 43, MISSOURI VALLEY 34: Quarterback Sean Westergaard rushed for 213 yards and scored three times to lead the Rebels to a win over the Big Red in a game played in Missouri Valley Friday.
Braulio Munoz also ran for two touchdowns for Westwood (3-1). The Rebels got a got a big defensive night from Jaxon Lutt who blocked a punt and recovered two fumbles. Carter Copple also had 13 tackles for the winners.
NEWELL-FONDA 27, KINGSLEY-PIERSON 26: Bryce Coppock had 207 yards rushing and four total touchdowns and No. 4 Newell-Fonda blocked a field goal on the final play of the game in a 27-26 win over Kingsley-Pierson on Friday in Newell.
Coppock had touchdown runs of one and 33 yards and also threw touchdown passes of six and 19 yards. Hunter Christiansen finished with three catches for 38 yards and two scores for Newell-Fonda (4-0).
Newell-Fonda’s Jake DeMey blocked a field goal of roughly 30 yards on the final play of the game.
Jessen Reinking ran for 99 yards and one score for Kingsley-Pierson (2-2).
AKRON-WESTFIELD 42. WEST MONONA 6: Nick Jacobs passed for four touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Westerners to a win over the Spartans in a game played in Akron Friday.
Jacobs found Reagan Frankl for three TD passes and threw another to Chase Stowe. Josh Armstong also recovered a fumble for a score for the Westerners (3-1). Darius Gashe scored on a 1-yard run for the Spartans, also 3-1.
AR-WE-VA 39, HARRIS-LAKE PARK 6: Keegan Simons and Drew Schurke combined for 171 rushing yards and five touchdowns as the No. 5 (8) Ar-We-Va football team defeated Harris-Lake Park 39-6 on Friday in Lake Park.
Simons finished with 78 rushing yards and scored on runs of one, one and 13 yards for Ar-We-Va (4-0). Schurke had 93 yards on the ground and scored on a pair of 1-yard runs. Schurke also kicked two field goals.
Isaac Ihnen scored the lone touchdown for Harris-Lake Park (2-2) on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Brody Sohn.
SOUTH CENTRAL CALHOUN 49, SOUTHEAST VALLEY 6: Chase McAlister ran for 87 yards and one score on eight carries as the No. 4 (1A) South Central Calhoun football team defeated Southeast Valley 49-6 on Friday in Lake City.
Landon Schleisman ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries for the Titans (4-0).
Kyler Fisher scored the lone touchdown for Southeast Valley (2-2) on a 36-yard run.
MADISON 40, VERMILLION 0: Thomas Gors led Madison with 79 yards rushing and returned an interception 31 yards for a touchdown as the Bulldogs blanked Vermillion 40-0 on Friday in Madison.
Tyler Tappe threw for 154 yards and one score and added a 35-yard rushing score for Madison (3-1). Nathan Ricke had a 39-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 9-yard run.
Mitchell Dougherty led Vermillion (1-3) with 69 yards rushing.
TEA AREA 40, LENNOX 15: Hunter West threw for a pair of touchdown passes and Luke Elkins rand for two more to lead the Titans to a win over the Orioles in the game played in Tea Friday.
Jake Leisinger passed for 312 yards and two touchdowns for Lennox, with both scoring strikes going to Caleb Metcalf who had 169 yards receiving.
BRIDGEWATER/ETHAN/EMERY 26, ELK POINT-JEFFERSON 10: The Seahawks moved to 4-0 with a win over the Huskies in a game played in Elk Point Friday. Jamin Arend had 131 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns for the winners. Jamin Arend scored on a 20-yard run for EP-J (2-2).
