SIOUX CITY | John Koch won a one-hole playoff with teammate Jackson Thompson for medalist honors and Bishop Heelan captured the Missouri River Conference boys golf team championship at Whispering Creek Thursday.

Koch and Thompson each shot 81 through 18 holes before Koch, a senior, prevailed in sudden death.

Heelan finished with a 334 total to claim the MRAC title for the second straight season as Trent Brazzell contributed an 85 and Jackson Sitzmann and Joey Stanley each shot 87.

East was second at 357, led by Cole Taylor and Cole Fagan with 86. Third-place North (368) was paced by last year’s conference champion Nick Opsahl with 85. West was sixth at 450, with Jesse Elgert shooting 97.

The top 12 individuals earn all-conference honors. All other ties besides the medalist were determined through scorecard playoffs.
