SIOUX CITY | Trent Harsma scored two goals Friday night while leading the Sioux City Metros to a 6-3 win over the Omaha Jr. Lancers during Midwest High School Hockey League action at the IBP Ice Center.
It was the second 2-goal game of the season for Harsma, who has 12 goals and 10 assists on the season for Coach Dave LeGree’s 7-7-0-1 Metros, which enter this weekend’s home MHSHL series against Lincoln riding a three-game winning streak.
Harsma and his linemate, Connor Sand, scored goals 29 seconds apart in the second period to give the Metros a 2-0 lead. Omaha responded with three second-period goals in a span of a minute and 40 seconds, with Brendan Hill’s goal good for a 3-2 lead at the 8:42 mark.
Sioux City regained the lead three minutes later on goals from Brandon Swanson and Skyler Beller. The Metros then got third-period goals from Harsma and Tanner Frerichs.
Frerichs, Swanson and Skyler Beller each recorded a goal and an assist. James Page and Drake Beller each dished two assists.
Winning goaltender Ben Morehead had 30 saves.
Carter Manthorne recorded 27 saves for the Metros junior varsity in a 2-0 victory. Sand and Sam Chadwick each scored a goal.
