LINCOLN | James Page provided four goals and an assist Sunday while leading the Sioux City Metros to a 10-1 rout over the Lincoln Junior Stars during Midwest High School Hockey League action at Ice Box Arena.

Page has provided 26 goals and 26 assists on the season for Coach Dave LeGree’s Metros, who hiked their season record to 18-6-2. He has contributed 12 goals and 11 assists on a current eight-game scoring streak.

Page scored both of the Metros’ two first-period goals. Each of those goals as well as the goals he recorded in the second and third periods assisted by Tanner Frerichs, who accumulated a goal and five assists in the squad’s fourth consecutive victory.

Page, Frerichs and Connor Sand each tallied a shorthanded goal in the Metros’ six-goal second period. Drake Beller’s four-point performance included two second-period goals and assists on third-period goals that came from Page and Logan Visser.

Christen Peterson scored a second-period goal for Sioux City, which outshot Lincoln 34-19. Winning goaltender Blake Beller (11-6-2) converted 18 of 19 save chances.

Saturday night, Sam Chadwick snapped a 1-1 tie on a second-period goal that helped the Metros clip the Junior Stars 3-1. Drake Beller and Frerichs scored goals in the first and third periods, respectively.

Blake Beller had 28 saves.

The Metros Junior Varsity ended a brief two-game losing streak Sunday with a 4-3 win. Coming through with a goal and an assist for Sioux City (11-13-2) were Dayson Tucker, Taylor Frerichs and Joshua Menzenberg. Nick Novak also scored a goal while goaltender Will Stokes had 19 saves.

Saturday, the JV Metros fell 3-1. Frerichs scored a first-period goal while Stokes had 33 saves.

The Metros will close the regular season with varsity and JV games Saturday and Sunday at the IBP Center against the Kansas City Jets.
