HAWARDEN, Iowa | Fernanda Serna scored two goals as the Sioux City West girls soccer team blanked West Sioux 6-0 in a non-conference game here Tuesday.

Serna scored in the fifth and 14th minutes with both assisted by Maggie Oberg. Liz DeLoera scored in the 47th minute off an assist from Sonia Rodriguez and Emily Molden scored in the 55th minute on a penalty kick. Rodriguez scored in the 64th minute with an assist from Molden on a corner kick, and Amanda Gors scored the final goal in the 75th minute, unassisted.

West (4-3) finished with 54 shots on goal while West Sioux (0-6) had four. Goalkeepers Rose Zacarias and Abby Duenas each had two saves for West in the shutout.

Serna currently has 10 goals on the season and is one away from tying the school record of 11 set by current Morningside forward Jessica Molden. Molden also has the career record for goals with 25. Serna currently has 22 career goals.

West hosts Sioux City North on Thursday.

EAST 6, SERGEANT BLUFF-LUTON 0

SIOUX CITY | Elyse Huber scored three goals and had one assist as the eighth-ranked (3A) Sioux City East girls soccer team blanked Sergeant Bluff-Luton 6-0 in a Missouri River Athletic Conference game here Tuesday.

After a scoreless first half, Huber scored twice in the 46th minute. Her first goal was unassisted and her second was assisted by Paola Ochoa. Ochoa scored in the 50th minute off a Brooklyn Malchow assist. Alle Downing scored in the 52nd minute, unassisted. Malchow scored in the 62nd minute off an assist from Huber. Huber then scored the final goal and completed her hat trick in the 78th minute off an assist from Ochoa.

East (9-1) finished with 20 shots on goal while SB-L (2-4) had four. Goal keeper Hanna Von Hagel tallied four saves in the shutout for the Black Raiders.

The Sergeant Bluff-Luton junior varsity team won 1-0.

East hosts Sioux City West on Tuesday while SB-L plays at Tri-Center on Friday.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN 5, NORTH 2

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa | Abby Groepper scored two goals as the Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln girls soccer team defeated Sioux City North 5-2 in a Missouri River Athletic Conference game here Tuesday.

Darby Thomas, ShaAnn Beaman and Sawyer Elliff each scored one goal for Abraham Lincoln (5-4).

Kaitlyn Mulder and Alisa Courey both had one goal and one assist for North (1-4).

Abraham Lincoln had 12 shots on goal while North had six. Emma Sonier had seven saves for North.

The junior varsity game was cancelled due to weather.

North plays next at Sioux City West on Thursday.

Boys

EAST 3, SERGEANT BLUFF-LUTON 1

SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa | Jose Ruiz scored two goals as the Sioux City East boys soccer team defeated Sergeant Bluff-Luton 3-1 in a Missouri River Athletic Conference game here Tuesday.

Tim Sorge scored an unassisted goal in the sixth minute to give SB-L (1-6) an early 1-0 lead. East (2-2) responded with a pair of goals from David Soto and Jose Ruiz to give the Black Raiders a 2-1 lead at halftime. Ruiz scored another goal in the second half to extend the East lead to 3-1.

East finished with 35 shots on goal while SB-L had five.

The East junior varsity team won 5-1.

East hosts Sioux City West on Friday while SB-L hosts Bishop Heelan on Friday.

NORTH 1, WEST 1

SIOUX CITY | The boys soccer game between Sioux City North and 13th-ranked (3A) Sioux City West on Tuesday was tied at 1-all and then postponed due to weather in the second overtime.

Suleiman Abdirahman scored for North (4-4) and Jovanny Leon scored for West (9-1).

There was no specific time set for the game to finish as of Tuesday night.

West hosts Sioux City East on Friday while North plays at Glenwood on Tuesday.
