The Ponca softball team got two wins on the road this week to improve its record to 8-6.

On Tuesday, Ponca to Madison and won 15-4 in six innings. Sydni Hughes had seven strikeouts in the win. Katie Janssen also put in some work on the mound and had three strikeouts.

Tailynn Lawyer led the offense with three doubles while Hannah Wahls, Brooke Languis and Reanna Lawyer had three singles a piece.

On Saturday, Ponca traveled to West Point and came out with a 9-8 hard-fought win.

Hughes had four strikeouts in the win.

In the top of the seventh inning, Ponca was down 8-6. The inning started with a double by Wahls followed by a ground-rule double by Tailynn Lawyer. With the score of 8-7 and Lawyer on second, Taylor Lamprecht hit a home run to take the lead 9-8.

Along with the home run, Lamprecht also had a double and a single.

The softball team will be heading to Scribner on Thursday for a triangular with Pierce and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
