MADISON, Wis. -- Matiss Kivlenieks posted his fourth shutout of the season Sunday afternoon as Sioux City completed a two-game weekend road trip with a 3-0 United States Hockey League victory over Madison at Alliant Energy Center.
Kivlenieks, a the USHL leader with a 1.76 goals against average, improved to 29-5-6 on the season by making 15 saves.
Sioux City, winning both games on the road trip, improved its record to 32-9-7 and now has a five-point lead and a game in hand on second-place Waterloo in the Western Conference.
The Musketeers tallied two second period goals to take a 2-0 lead. Sampo Ranta netted his fifth of the season and Connor Ford his ninth.
Eeli Tolvanen scored his team-high 24th of the season into an empty net in the third period.
Sioux City faces another two-game road swing this weekend at Des Moines on Friday and Waterloo on Saturday before playing its final seven home games of the regular season in succession.
