JEFFERSON, S.D. -- With the races called off last week, drivers are looking to make the final necessary tweaks to ensure their best chance at a title with just three weeks of points racing at Raceway Park remaining.
"I have had quite a few phone calls this week from guys wanting to try out their car to make sure everything is working right," track promoter Greg Golden said. "It was tough missing last week with the rain, but that is the kind of summer it has been."
All five IMCA classes will be in action and the points are tight with Ramsey Meyer and David Bates tied atop the sport compact standings with 388 points.
"Ramsey Meyer looked like he had another good race going for him the last time we raced and a hood pin or something else came out and his hood came up," Golden said. "One little hiccup can change everything."
Bob Moore and Sean Barragan are also tied in the modified division, Todd Gereau leads Jason Ward by one point in the stock cars, Andy Hoffman has an 11-point lead over Tony Fetterman in the hobby stocks and Rusty Montagne has a 67-point lead in the sport mods.
Grandstand general admission is $12. Five dollars is the admission price for Seniors (65-older) and 6-16. The pit fee is $30.
The front gate and pit gate will each open at 5 p.m. Hot laps will start at 6:15, with racing starting at 7 p.m.
