SIOUX CITY - No. 16 Hastings stayed unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Briar Cliff in a women's soccer match held at Faber Field Saturday afternoon.

The Broncos (7-0-1 GPAC, 10-0-2 overall) got a goal from Berkley Sharp in the 25th minute to lead 1-0 at the half. Kaylie Agostine and Jenny Sells scored 45 second apart in the 55th minute to ice the win for Hastings.

Briar Cliff got seven saves from keeper Sarah Young and fell to (6-2 GPAC, 7-6-1 overall).

COLLEGE OF ST. MARY 1, NORTHWESTERN 0: Kennedy Cascio scored a goal in the 92nd minute to lead the Flames to an overtime win in a Great Plains Athletic Conference women's soccer match Saturday in Omaha.

CSM (2-10-1 overall , 2-4-1 GPAC) matched the Raiders with a dozen shots in regulation and scored on the first attempt either team had in the extra time. Karen Hernandez had four saves in goal for Northwestern (3-11 overall, 2-6 GPAC).


HASTINGS 3, BRIAR CLIFF 0: No. 3 Hastings retained its lead in the Great Plains Athletic Conference after a shutout win over the Chargers in a match played at Faber Field Saturday.

Daniel Whitehall scored in the ninth minute and Callum Watson in the 40th to give the Broncos (10-2 overall, 7-0 GPAC) a 2-0 lead at the half and David Painter scored in the 84th minute to wrap up scoring. Keeper Alex Theobald had eight saves for Briar Cliff (6-5-2 overall, 3-2-1 GPAC).

Late Friday

BUENA VISTA 2, COE 1: Jay Walker and Gum Riak both scored one goal as the Buena Vista men’s soccer team rallied to defeated Coe 2-1 in an American Rivers Conference match between winless teams on Friday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Coe’s Abdi Abdi scored in the 59th minute off an assist from Eduardo Bahena to take a 1-0 lead. BV’s Walker scored in the 63rd minute off a Noah Bardwell assist to tie the game at 1-all. Riak then scored the go-ahead goal in the 80th minute, unassisted.

Goalkeeper Manuel Garcia Aguilar recorded five saves for BV (1-12-1, 1-3-1) while Alec Balta notched seven saves for Coe (0-11-1, 0-5).

MSU-MOORHEAD 1, WAYNE STATE 0: Despite holding a 20-5 advantage in shots and 8-2 in corner kicks over MSU Moorhead, the Wayne State College women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in Moorhead, Minnesota on Friday.

The host Dragons made the most of their lone shot on goal in the first half as Kylee Billings found the back of the net on a free kick at the 9:44 mark to give MSU Moorhead a 1-0 lead.

Goalkeeper Alyssa Bagley was credited with one save while allowing one goal in the contest.
