SIOUX CITY – The 2018-19 season started off on a high note for Morningside College’s women’s swim team Friday.
The Mustangs downed College of Saint Mary 109-90 in the season opener inside the Hindman-Hobbs Center.
Three event victories aided the dual meet win as junior Grace Nordquist led a one-two finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Her time of 12:08.14 won the race with sophomore teammate Maureen Voller taking second in 12:50.93.
A pair of underclasswomen, freshman Samantha Masid and sophomore Lauryn Baehr, added first-place marks in the 100 freestyle as Masid swam 1:01.39 and 100 backstroke when Baehr went 1:07.46. Both of their event titles were part of first through third place sweeps.
