CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa | The Buena Vista volleyball team fell to Wartburg 25-19, 25-23, 25-23 in the championship match of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament at the U.S. Cellular Center here Saturday.

Jade Schaap finished with 11 kills and seven digs for Buena Vista (22-10). Mackenzie Gropel dished out 26 assists. Summer Gross tallied 18 digs and Jamie Navinskey notched 12.

Maddie Miller logged 11 kills for Wartburg (24-5). Mallary Erbes dished out 17 assists and Maria Brown added 14. Lizzy Blough and Katie Foster both registered 19 digs.

This is the third straight year that Wartburg has won the IIAC tournament.

AUGUSTANA 3, BEMIDJI STATE 0: The No. 16 (D-II) Augustana volleyball team swept Bemidji State 25-10, 25-21, 25-15 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match on Saturday in Bemidji, Minn.

Lauren Waite, a Sergeant Bluff-Luton graduate, led Augustana (20-8, 11-7) in kills with 10. Alex Banker dished out 32 assists and Tahlyr Banks notched 12 digs.

Becky Schroeder finished with eight kills for Bemidji State (3-24, 0-18).

WAYNE STATE 3, MINNESOTA CROOKSTON 0: The No. 22 (D-II) Wayne State volleyball team swept Minnesota Crookston 25-15, 25-11, 25-17 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match on Saturday in Crookston, Minn.

Erin Gross recorded 10 kills for Wayne State (18-10, 11-7). Megan Gebhardt dished out 30 assists. Haley Kauth tallied 14 digs and Bree Ackermann added 10.

Kassi Green notched seven kills and seven digs for Crookston (7-19, 4-14).

NORTHWESTERN 3, BRIAR CLIFF 1: Lauryn Hilger had 15 kills and 18 digs to lead the No. 4 Raiders to a 25-23, 21-25, 25-13, 25-21 win over the Chargers in a first-round game in the Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball match held in Orange City, Iowa Saturday.

Anna Kiel also had 11 kills and eight digs while Lacey Wacker had 43 assists for Northwestern (28-3). Toni Beck had 11 kills and Laura Berry 14 assists for Briar Cliff (18-9).

The Raiders will host Dordt in a semifinal round match Wednesday.

MIDLAND 3, MORNINGSIDE 0: The No. 11 Warriors claimed a 25-22, 26-24, 25-19 win over the Mustangs in a first-round match of the Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball tournament played in Fremont, Nebraska Saturday.

Priscilla O'Dowd had 11 kills to lead Midland, which moves on to the tourney semifinals with a 19-8 record. The Warriors will play at No. 3 Hastings Wednesday.

Morningside (18-12) got a match-high 13 kills from Jenn Buyert while Nikki Oberfoell had 13 digs and Callie Alberico 30 assists.

DORDT 3, DOANE 1: The No. 5 Defenders came back after dropping the first set to defeat the Tigers 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-18 in a first-round game at the Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball tournament in Sioux Center, Iowa Saturday.

Ema Altena hammered down 25 kills to lead the Defenders attack while Jamie Gesink had 48 assists and Summer Jansen had 30 digs. Dordt (28-5) will face Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa Wednesday in a semifinal matchup. Allison Kuenle had 24 kills for Doane (17-12).
