SIOUX CITY -- This heist turned into a major dud.
A 29-year-old Walthill, Nebraska, man was arrested Friday after police say he asked a security guard at a fireworks tent for free fireworks, then robbed him at knife point when the guard would not give him any.
The haul of what he stole: a whopping $10.
The man, Kegan Lee Morris, was caught shortly afterward and charged with first-degree robbery.
Court documents say shortly after midnight June 28, Morris was in the parking lot of Save-A-Lot, 1730 Pierce St., where the guard was standing at a fireworks tent. After the guard refused Morris's request for free fireworks, Morris pulled out a knife, opened the blade and began walking around the stand.
Morris asked the guard to give him fireworks and tell the owners of the stand that he had been robbed. When the guard refused, Morris told the guard that he was robbing him and proceeded to steal a box of bottle rockets and a few larger rockets. The total value of the items stolen was $10.
Documents say Morris ran off on foot, and police located him several minutes later with the stolen items.
Morris was being held in Woodbury County Jail on $10,000 bond.
