Man arrested for calling cops on false accusations
STORM LAKE, Iowa | I can only imagine he was looking in the mirror.
A Storm Lake man was arrested Oct. 16 after making false calls and sending text messages to 911 to report an armed man at the Tyson Foods pork plant in Storm Lake.
Sergio Quintero, 29, was arrested on three counts of making false reports to communications entities, a serious misdemeanor.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Tyson plant at 10:58 p.m. concerning an anonymous call to 911 about a person at the plant who was wearing a Raiders jacket and was armed with a gun.
While searching the plant, officers observed Quintero, who was wearing a Raiders sweatshirt. Police found no guns on him.
A short time later, the Communication Center received two text messages from the same untraceable number that made the 911 call. One message stated "he has a gun" and the second message said, "Sergio."
Police again searched the plant and recontacted Quintero. During a search, two cellphones, but no guns, were found on Quintero. Investigators were able to determine that one of the phones in Quintero's possession matched the number called into the Communication Center, and Quintero was arrested.
