Charles W. Suter
Founded in 1926, HVAC and plumbing company CW Suter has spent the last hundred years earning the trust of homeowners and business owners throughout the Siouxland area.
In the century since it began, the company has evolved from a small local plumbing shop into a regional leader known for its comprehensive residential and commercial HVAC and plumbing solutions, offered throughout the tri-state area of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. And CW Suter is a Lennox Premier Dealer — proof they’re committed to top-quality equipment and service. They have offices in Sioux City, Spencer, Yankton, Sheldon, and Spirit Lake.
With that century of experience behind them, the employees at CW Suter continue to be highly invested in providing quality service to their multigenerational customer base. In fact, customer reviews describe CW Suter as a company they can depend on to keep their home — and family — comfortable.
Marketing manager Lexie Moore said this “legacy loyalty” isn’t simply because they’ve been around for 100 years. Customers keep coming back because they know they can rely on CW Suter’s professional and highly experienced staff. The company is 100% employee owned, meaning all 250 employees are deeply invested in delivering the highest levels of service. Customers know that CW Suter’s 24/7 emergency service is always there when they need it. And with its in-house sheet metal fabrication shop and continuing education program for employees, the company has the resources to meet every customer’s HVAC and plumbing needs.
“We’re definitely here for the long haul,” Moore said. “We are all owners here and extremely dedicated to our customers, providing high-quality service and products.”
Moore said CW Suter’s rigorous in-house apprenticeship program is something the employees are very proud of. Suter University, the free four-year HVAC and plumbing program, is designed to give the HVAC technicians, installers and plumbers all the tools and training they need to keep up on the latest technologies in HVAC and plumbing applications. Training sites are located in Sioux City and Spirit Lake. The weekly classes are taught by Suter employees, all of whom are licensed journeymen. The program is certified by the U.S. Department of Labor as a Registered Apprenticeship Program.
“Our instructors are able to provide real-world knowledge, creating a one-on-one mentorship with each student as they train the next generation of skilled tradespeople in-house,” Moore said. “Suter U is definitely a core part of our legacy, helping us to ensure that every technician entering a customer’s home or business has been vetted and trained to the specific high standards of the Suter brand.”
Moore said the company’s residential services also extend beyond just repairs and replacements. Comprehensive maintenance plans are offered to ensure systems are always running at peak performance. The plans include regular inspections and tune-ups to identify any potential issues before they become major problems. This proactive approach not only extends the lifespan of a system but also improves its efficiency, leading to lower energy bills, she said.
CW Suter also offers indoor air quality products designed to treat three key areas — humidity, air purification and ventilation — with its selection of humidifiers, dehumidifiers and air purifiers.
“We understand that every home and business is unique,” Moore said, “so we customize our services to meet specific needs and budget, enhancing our customers’ home comfort and efficiency.”
