Homeowners who have a kitchen or bathroom that needs to be remodeled can find convenient, inexpensive remodeling options from Surface Solutions.
Surface Solutions offers on-site resurfacing of showers, bathtubs, tile and countertops. In addition, the Siouxland business features cabinet resurfacing and refacing, installation of acrylic bathtub liners over existing cast iron or steel bathtubs, and installation of acrylic surrounds and shower systems.
Although especially known for their bathtub resurfacing, Surface Solutions is one of the only businesses in the Siouxland area that offers cabinet resurfacing and refacing as an alternative to cabinet removal and installation.
Cabinet resurfacing is for homeowners who are basically satisfied with their kitchen's layout but want to give their cabinets a new appearance. During this process, Surface Solutions applies a very durable high-tech coating over the existing surface without removal or replacement. The coatings come in a variety of custom colors to complement any decorating scheme.

"The ultimate benefit of cabinet resurfacing is that it typically can cost as much as 75 percent less than cabinet replacement," said Stacy Kaiser, co-owner of Surface Solutions with her husband Gary.
Besides cabinets, Surface Solutions can resurface countertops and tile. Most recently, Surface Solutions has been spraying countertops with a product known as Multispec Multicolor Finishes.
When applied to countertops, the product duplicates the appearance of a stone or granite surface for use as an architectural finish. Kaiser said Multispec delivers superior durability, color fastness, abrasion, stain resistance and flexibility.
"All of these properties give Multispec a distinct advantage when refinishing contact surfaces such as countertops and ceramic tile," she said.
Cabinet refacing is another popular remodeling alternative for homeowners who want to remodel their kitchen. Cabinet refacing is a process of renewing cabinets by removing old doors and drawer fronts. Then cabinet face frames are resurfaced with prefinished wood veneer, and the bottom and sides of the cabinets are resurfaced with prefinished plywood. Ultimately, new doors and drawer fronts are installed. Several other modifications, including upgrading old drawers and slides, or replacing a worn-out lazy susan, can be done at the same time.
A cabinet refacing job is less disruptive than conventional remodeling involving cabinet replacement, and gives the homeowner a beautiful new kitchen at a fraction of the cost of ripping everything out and replacing it. In addition, cabinet refacing saves time. Cabinet refacing can be done in three to five days, whereas conventional remodeling can take up to four weeks to complete.
Applying the same techniques that are used in kitchens, Surface Solutions resurfaces and replaces vanity cabinets, and resurfaces showers, bathtubs, tile and countertops in the bathroom.
"Resurfacing is a very cost-effective alternative to traditional bathroom remodeling," said Kaiser. "Most people can't tell the difference between a resurfaced fixture and a new one. The results are that good!"
Surface Solutions offers a five-year resurfacing warranty. However, when following proper care and maintenance procedures, the average homeowner can expect the finish to last at least 10-15 years, she said.
Besides resurfacing, Surface Solutions installs custom-made acrylic bathtubs and wall surrounds over existing bathtubs and walls without tearing up the existing plumbing or surrounding wall area. Surface Solution's bathtub liners, she said, are the thickest and highest quality liners in the industry. Made with a special 1/4-inch acrylic, and available in a variety of colors, acrylic liners are cut on site to fit tight against the existing sheetrocked or tiled wall, all the way from the floor to the ceiling. No messy demolition is required, and you can use your new bathtub and/or shower system the day after installation.
In an effort to provide the consumer with a unique and affordable solution to the bathtub conversion, Surface Solutions can take an existing bathtub (whether it's made of fiberglass, steel or cast iron) and install the Safeway Step system from Acrylic Bath Systems to provide a safe and easy alternative entry into a bath /shower. The product, which features a slip resistant built-in step, is especially ideal for seniors and caregivers because it removes their biggest barrier in the bathtub area. It significantly reduces the possibility of falls while getting in and out of the bathtub. In addition to seniors, the Safeway Step can be very helpful for individuals with certain disabilities or physical hardships.
The Safeway Step is the perfect complement to Surface Solution's other services, particularly the acrylic wall surrounds, which can be installed prior to the tub-to-shower conversion.
No matter which remodeling options you choose, with Surface Solutions you can have the beautiful new kitchen or bathroom you want in a few days, without the usual inconvenience, mess and hassles of conventional remodeling.
