SIOUX CITY - For years, Floyd Boulevard was a washboard of a
street. That makes a new business addition to the north end, near
Outer Drive, quite appropriate.
High above the roofs of Dairy Queen and Sonic Drive-In are two
towers that proclaim Car Wash and on the two buildings are signs
that say Coin Laundry and Pet Wash.
With its bright red signage, the Floyd Family Wash Center is two
buildings of three units that has most likely caught the eye of
drivers traveling north and south on the boulevard.
The laundry aspect will have 30 machines and 28 dryers. An
attendant will be available for folks who want to drop off and pick
up laundry.
The car wash will offer three options - a self-service bay, a
traditional automatic wash and a touchless wash. The bays will
accommodate vehicles as large as a crew cab, long-box pickup
truck.
Perhaps, the most intriguing aspect of the business is the Pet
Wash which contains a stainless steel tub for grooming pets with a
water wand that contains pet shampoo.
The general contractor for the project was Advanced Construction
Services of Jefferson, S.D. Ground was broken on the project in
September of 2008.
The wash center's neighbors are places to dine: Dairy Queen,
2715 Trinity Drive, Sonic Drive-In, 2725 Trinity Drive and Pizza
Hut, 3095 Floyd Blvd. Adjacent is the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 3101
Floyd Blvd., which includes a full-service supermarket and retail
merchandise.
The Floyd Hills Shopping Center, a 20,000-square-foot,
multi-tenant building that can hold from five to eight tenants,
opened in 2004.
Current tenants are Mr. Movies, Beach Club Tan, Heartland
Cellular, Sally Beauty Supply, White Tiger Martial Arts, Sports
Clips, Beijing Restaurant, Advance America Cash Advance Center and
Jitters, the first tenant and the anchor on the south end. Cato
Fashions - which catered to fashion-minded women on a budget and
opened for business in the fall of 2005 - closed in 2008.
With the large amount of traffic on the boulevard - more than
11,000 cars each day, the traffic generated by Wal-Mart and the
upcoming completion of Outer Drive - the Floyd Family Wash Center
will be monitored by 24 security cameras.
