SIOUX CITY | Since the Center for Neurosciences, Orthopaedics & Spine, P.C., opened the doors of its new CNOS Northside Clinic in July, the schedule of patient appointments has continued to grow, according to CEO Mike Hurlburt.
The clinic, 2735 Outer Drive North, officially began serving the public July 16.
Hurlburt said CNOS has added several doctors and therapists to the Northside Clinic schedule since the opening in July, including neurology, rheumatology and occupational therapy, as well as increased neurosurgery and orthopaedic presence.
"Our mission is improving health. We've always felt providing great health care close to home is key to our mission's success," Hurlburt said. "The positive response of patients at the Northside Clinic simply reinforces the idea that we needed a convenient option to better serve the people in that area of Siouxland."

CNOS' main location is in Dakota Dunes. Its first expansion into Sioux City was the opening of a Morningside clinic in 2007. CNOS also provides medical services at 17 satellite clinics throughout the tri-state region.
Several years ago, Hurlburt said, CNOS started looking at ways to better serve the people of Siouxland.
"Our mission at CNOS is simply improving health. We feel that mission also includes improving how and where we provide care and services," he said. "We believe that great health care can -- and should -- be delivered close to home."
The 6,200-square-foot Northside Clinic, which is decorated in a modern "prairie" style, offers eight exam rooms, physician offices, an X-ray area and an innovative rehab center.
The rehab center features a wide open space with a high ceiling, bright picture windows and a multi-surface track where patients learn to walk again. A ballet barre helps them with their balance after surgery.
Free injury screens conducted by certified athletic trainers are now open to the public from 7 to 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the clinic.
Hurlburt said expanding CNOS' clinic network is key to attracting and retaining the very best physicians to the community.
Clinic additions include Dr. Thorir Ragnarsson and Dr. Ralph Reeder, neurosurgery, Dr. Mei He, neurology, Dr. Steven Stokesbary, orthopaedics, and Dr. Sarah Powell, otolaryngology.
"We are actively recruiting physicians across all our specialties. Having a broad network of clinics, especially one as advanced a clinic environment as the Northside is, helps attract and retain the best physicians to our community," Hurlburt said. "We want physicians to see CNOS as a dynamic, growing practice where the emphasis is on providing patients with the best care."
