SIOUX CITY – Luxury living at affordable prices is what
Whispering Creek Senior Living seeks to provide to its
residents.
The facility, which opened last February, has 82 apartments
with Khaki-colored walls and white wooden trim. Large windows and
wooden blinds allow light to flow into the rooms, according to
executive director Nicole Ellermeier.
“It’s very fresh and clean and open,” she said of the complex
located next to the Whispering Creek Golf Course.
Each apartment has its own kitchen with appliances, a stack-able
washer and dryer, and a balcony or patio. Utilities, cable, meals,
housekeeping and an attached garage, are included in a month’s
rent, which starts at around $2,000.
The facility, which is staffed 24-hours a day, contains 39
independent living apartments that range from 870 to 1,400 square
feet, a 1,700 square-foot clubhouse, twenty-seven 573 to 943
square-foot assisted living apartments, and sixteen 300 square
-foot secured memory care suites.
An executive chef oversees three dinning areas where meals are
prepared fresh daily. The noon meal, the largest of the day, offers
an appetizer, a main course balanced by a dietitian, and
dessert.
“There’s always choices for food,” Ellermeier said. “It’s not
just one thing and that’s what you get each day.”
Residents have the option to watch movies in the evening at an
on-site theater, or participate in a daily exercise program. “Fun
Friday’s” offer entertainment acts, guest speakers and chances to
learn a new activity or craft.
Ellermeier said staff and the services that they provide set
Whispering Creek apart from other senior living facilities in the
area.
“We have new amenities which are nice, but it really comes down
to the fact that we try to exceed the customers’ expectations in
every aspect, whether it’s dinning, housekeeping, maintenance or
nursing,” she said. “I think that’s what gives us the wow factor –
our staff.”
