DAKOTA DUNES -- Employees at Malloy Electric recently moved into
their spacious new service center in Dakota Dunes, a facility
company officials say could be the site of future expansions.
Malloy Electric Vice President Chris Houwman said the
65,000-square-foot center will be the company's go-to site for
large electrical motor repairs. Employees moved into the new Dakota
Dunes facility in late 2009 and early this year.
"That's where all of our large repairs will be done throughout
the country," Houwman said. "We can service equipment up to 35
tons, or 70,000 pounds."
Based in Sioux Falls, Malloy Electric sells and services a wide
range of electrical motors and other mechanical equipment for the
food, mining, wind, utility and biofuels markets.
The new Dakota Dunes complex combined Malloy Electric's two
Sioux City locations, at 1114 Fifth St. and 300 S. Virginia St. It
will house the company's inside technical support, outside sales,
motor service center, machine shop, electronic department, office,
warehouse and engineering staff.
The Dakota Dunes facility is one of the most advanced,
up-to-date industrial service centers in the country. The 11-acre
center will be a regional hub, serving clients from South Dakota,
North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa.
"Our goal is to be in the top five percent in the country for
industrial service centers. This positions us to do that," Houwman
said. "We've had the staff and the tools, but this just puts it all
under one roof."
Although no expansions are planned at this time, Houwman said
company officials believe the Dakota Dunes complex could be the
site of future expansion.
"In time, we will continue to expand and grow and invest in
equipment and people," Houwman said.
In addition to the new service center in Dakota Dunes, Malloy
Electric has facilities in Omaha, Fargo and Sioux Falls.
