Poss Construction helps from the ground up

Owned by husband and wife team Jerry and Deb Poss, Jerry Poss Construction specializes in new construction and large remodeling projects.

Jerry Poss has 25 years of experience in the construction business and takes a hands-on approach to home building, working alongside his employees and remaining actively involved with a project from beginning to end.

"What's different about Jerry's business is that he does all of the building himself and physically works on a project. It's not left up to sub-contractors. Everything goes through him."

While Jerry knows the construction part of the business inside and out, he leaves the interior decorating of custom homes to his wife Deb, a design consultant with more than 20 years of professional experience.

"We go over everything with the homeowners from the beginning, starting with the floor plan," said Deb Poss. "We can do the decorating from top to bottom and do color coordinating of floor coverings, wall coverings, paint, and more. We can also do kitchen design."

Deb finds out the background of the homeowners, learns their likes and dislikes, and tailors the interior decorating to their lifestyle.

"We try to create something very unique for each person," she said. "As a professional, I give them advice to meet their needs and reflect their personal choices. It's about them."

Deb said she and Jerry take pride in being one of the private small businesses that knows everything about a house, from the construction to the interior decorating.

Twenty-five years ago, they started out in the business by building several speculative homes in the Siouxland area. As the economy changed, the Posses turned their attention to custom home building and remodeling projects, and have been concentrating on them for the past three years.

"We can answer every question because we know every step of the home building process," she said. "It's a big plus. Our customers like the option of having someone help them make physical choices that are economical and functional."

Their goal, she said, is to make the finished product even better than the homeowners expected and keep it within their budget. "We're very quality conscious. We focus on customer satisfaction and meeting their needs."
