SIOUX CITY | When you first enter Ashley Furniture your eyes might not know where to look.
There are hundreds of furniture pieces, including lamps, beds, tables and more, that grace the showroom at one of Sioux City’s latest furniture stores. All of the pieces are arranged as if they are their own little rooms.
But customers shouldn't worry about getting lost, said Kristen Stengel, marketing director for Furniture Mart USA.
“The staff in Sioux City is dedicated to working with our customers every step of the way, so they’ll leave our store not only loving what they find, but loving how they bought it,” Stengel said in an email.
But Ashley sells more than just furniture, said store manager Amanda Olszewski.
“[Customers] are excited by the range of options and have fun shopping our store because it’s not only filled with great furniture, but it’s also full of beautiful accessories that really help create a space that fits their personal style,” Olszewski said.

Ashley Furniture opened in downtown Sioux City in June of 2014, taking over a building at 124 Pierce St. that shares a parking lot with a Walgreens. Ashley Furniture is owned by Furniture Mart USA, based in Sioux Falls.
Since the Sioux City store opened, the company has introduced some new product lines for this spring, including the new Urbanology Collection, which features furniture and accessories that have an urban and industrial twist.
“The new collection is designed with the latest home trends in mind and is perfectly suited to marry livable furniture with gorgeous style,” Olszewski said. “We know that our customers will be blown away by the new looks.”
They’ve already had success with the new line.
“They are selling before we can even fill our floors to showcase them,” she said.
Some of their best selling lines have been the Vintage Casual LifeStyle and the Porter Collection, Olszewski said.
There are 20 Ashley Furniture stores in South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa. Sioux City is the first of five locations the company hopes to open in Iowa.
“Because of the great partnership we have with Ashley Furniture, we were awarded the licensee contract in Iowa,” said Tom Kovash, vice president of the Ashley Furniture division of Furniture Mart USA. “We chose Sioux City as one of our first locations because we saw a need to provide fresh, affordable home furnishing options for Sioux City residents.”
Kovash has been pleased with the success at the Sioux City location so far.
“We are so proud to be a part of the growth in Sioux City and within the Ashley Furniture HomeStore organization,” Kovash said. “We are looking forward to many more years as a part of the Sioux City business community.”
