Kitchen manager Jason Houser shows off the menu at Bob Roe's North End Zone. Houser and his brother, Jeremy, manage the Leeds restaurant, which opened Nov. 27.
SIOUX CITY | A new bar with a famous family name already is attracting sports fans and foodies to the Leeds neighborhood.
Last Nov. 27, Bob Roe's Point After opened Bob Roe's North End Zone at 4100 Floyd Blvd. in the former Dorsey's bar.
"This was the only part of town we didn't have coverage," said Terri Rexius, vice president for Point After, Inc. "When we had the Town House, a lot of people stopped in from Leeds."
Since the Point After sole the Town House at 2701 Floyd Blvd. more than 10 years ago, Rexius said they have been looking for another north side ocation. Bob Roe's also operates in the Transit Plaza and the West Side Pizza at 1200 Fourth St.
Before opening their third restaurant last fall, Rexius said the carpeting was replaced, new paint applied on the walls and a new bar installed. A total of 16 television sets allow customers to watch sporting events from all vantage points. The business can hold up to 100 people.
"We fixed it up and it is a comfortable place to be with your family and friends," she said. "It's a clean place."
In addition to offering a large menu, the restaurant also offers delivery service. The big sellers remain their pizzas and wings.
"That's what we're known for," Rexius noted.
The bar employs 22 full- and part-time people. Her sons, Jeremy and Jason Houser, are the managers. The Housers are Bob Roe's grandsons, keeping the business "all in the family."
Stories about pizza and restaurants that serve them as featured in the Sioux City Journal.
