DAKOTA DUNES — P’s Pizza House is ready to slice into a new market.
The Le Mars-based sports bar that’s known for its craft beer selection and award-winning pizzas is preparing to open a location in Dakota Dunes.
It will be the regional chain’s third restaurant and first in South Dakota, after opening a P’s in Orange City, Iowa, in 2016.
The new 8,000 square-foot P’s will include a 60-seat event room, mezzanine seating and event space, golf simulator lounge and audiovisual technology for sports fans and be located in the Gold Circle development in the Dunes.
The area also is home to Central Bank, RBC Wealth Management, NAI United, United Real Estate Solutions and Stone Bru.
Work has already started on this latest addition to the P’s family, which is expected to be completed in the summer.
“Dakota Dunes has been yearning for years for a top-notch sports bar (and) grill option and I know they will be pleased with P’s Pizza House,” NAI United President Chris Bogenrief, the project's developer, said in a news release. “I have personally visited P’s in Le Mars and experienced the quality of the food and service."
P’s is owned and operated by Joe Sitzman, a Le Mars native who got his start in the restaurant industry by working for Texas-based Dave & Buster's chain of restaurants/entertainment centers.
He has been the owner of P’s — formerly known as Mr. P’s Pizza and Sports Grill — since 2009.
“With local business people and residents asking for an option in Dakota Dunes that offered great food and a fun atmosphere, we welcomed the opportunity to expand into a third location and meet the area’s needs.” Sitzmann said in a release.
“We are excited to have a quality sports bar & grill as part of the Gold Circle campus.”
SIOUX CITY — Ho-Chunk Inc. has hit the halfway mark with Virginia Square, its $30 million downtown housing and commercial development project.
