SIOUX CITY | Sioux City's first Candlewood Suites offers many of the comforts of home for travelers in town for an extended period.
The 87-room hotel opened in April at 4720 Southern Hills Drive. The site, located just south of a Holiday Inn Express and east of a Fairfield Inn, has easy access to the U.S. Highway 75/20 bypass.
The $7 million hotel was designed with Candlewood's new prototype design. It features a residential look and feel incorporating a new exterior and paint scheme, an expanded lobby and environmentally-friendly amenities.
The national chain offers a combination of studio and one-bedroom suite floor plans with fully equipped kitchens and executive desks. Amenities include a free 24-hour gym, lending library, laundry and outdoor picnic area with a gas grill and gazeeboo.
The fitness center offers treadmill, elliptical machines, free weights and a stationary bicycle
The property is a short drive to Southern Hills Mall and Lakeport Commons and other shopping and entertainment options.Â
Billed as Sioux City's first extended stay hotel, the Candlewood filled a need in the growing tri-state area, said Henry Byl, marketing manager of Summer View Partners Inc., which manages the property.
Among the hotel's extended guests are out-of-state workers assigned temporarily to the $1.7 billion expansion of CF Industries' fertilizer complex at Port Neal.
The Candlewood Suites Sioux City is franchised by an affiliate of IHG, or InterContinental Hotels Group, one of the world’s leading global hotel companies.
Byl's firm also is the local franchisee for the Holiday Inn Express properties in Sioux City and Sioux Center, Iowa.
