SIOUX CITY | Renovation and construction marks an ongoing boom in business at the Condon family’s Honda and Buick showrooms in Sioux City.
Condon Auto Sales and Service completed construction of a new Buick showroom and renovations on its 15-year-old Honda showroom this fall. The price tag for the two projects came in at nearly $1 million for the family-owned business.
The changes have not gone unnoticed by customers visiting the adjacent sales lots along Singing Hills Boulevard.
“It’s a great feeling to be able to put the construction phase of the project behind us,” said Mark Condon, who runs the dealership with siblings Steve and Becky Condon. “It’s nice to see people notice the changes and upgrades. They do notice.”
Completion of the two projects comes as a number of large construction projects are breathing new life into Sioux City’s economy.

While Buick’s brand has struggled in the past, especially in drawing in younger buyers, more customers are coming in looking for a test drive, Condon said.
The Condon dealership is in the process of expanding its sales staff and adding approximately 50 cars to its on-hand inventory to meet demand.
“What matters most to us is jobs and income when buying big ticket items like a house or a car,” Condon said. “We’re seeing growth in our economy with CF Industries and our strong ag industry.”

The state-of-the-art Buick showroom at 4601 Singing Hills Blvd. includes models such as the Verano, Regal and LaCrosse sedans and Enclave and Encore sport-utility vehicles.
"Buick is again one of the best-selling luxury car lines in the U.S.," Condon previously said. "Business is good right now, much better than it has been the last four or five years, so this was a great time to open the new showroom.
Construction of the Buick showroom allows Condon for the first time to have separate facilities for its Buick and Honda lines. The two had previously shared a showroom.
The existing Honda showroom at 4625 South Lakeport St. was extensively remodeled. Work included updating the customer waiting areas, bathrooms, reception and service write-up areas. The new-look showroom includes new tile and fixtures in the bathrooms, new flooring, fresh paint, new furniture and granite counter tops, beverages for customers and a children's play area.
Construction of a free-standing showroom was a condition from General Motors in allowing Condon to keep its Buick franchise.
“Buick has always been a premium luxury brand for GM,” mark Condon said. “Now, with its quality and design improvements, the company is more appealing to a younger demographic.”
The new construction and renovations will allow Condon Auto to expand its vehicle display areas and increase its inventory of new and pre-owned vehicles.
The Buick and Honda lines share a service department. Steve Condon, general manager and vice president, previously noted the dealership can perform warranty repairs on nearly all General Motor products and provide genuine GM parts.
Condon was the first Sioux City automotive dealership to set up in the Singing Hills Boulevard corridor when it opened its showroom floor in 1999.
