Trying to juggle the schedule of working part-time from home and the demands of being a new mother, the last thing you would expect Gina Kvidera to do is take on earning a master's degree.
But that's exactly what the Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, mom did. Kvidera is earning her master's degree in business administration through Wayne State College's online MBA program while working for Pioneer Bank.
"I don't have time to drive to Wayne each week for class," Kvidera says. "We just had our first child and I am staying home with him, working part time from home. So, taking classes completely online works the best for my schedule and allows me to devote time to other things as well."
While students may be attending classes from all over the country, there is still plenty of active discussion with fellow students and professors.

"I enjoy the discussion boards and feel like I get to know the other students from the boards," Kvidera says.
The Wayne State College online MBA program is a 30-credit hour program that focuses on applied curriculum. That means that students learn both theory and application, so that they are better able to apply what they have learned in the classroom. Kvidera felt able to apply the knowledge gained in class to her job as a debit and credit card fraud control officer.
"Throughout the program, I have taken the material in the course and applied it to my job and situations that occur at my job daily," she says. "This has helped me think through the situations before I act and actually put my knowledge to good use. I get a much better understanding of what I am learning when I can put it into practical uses in my day-to-day operations."
The Wayne State College MBA program is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). IACBE is an internationally recognized, prominent accrediting body for business and business-related degree programs in four-year and graduate level institutions. Accreditation is important when researching any academic program, particularly an online program.
According to Vaughn Benson, Ph.D., dean of Wayne State's School of Business and Technology, "Accreditation recognizes the achievement of quality in academic business programs. The accreditation process is one means of making certain graduates are well-equipped to join the business world."
"The accreditation of Wayne State's online MBA program ensures that students are getting the same experience as those in a traditional, on-campus setting," he added.
In addition to providing a high-quality education, the Wayne State College online MBA program is among the most affordable in the region, with a per credit hour fee as low as $147.75. The lower cost than other traditional programs in the area makes it an affordable option for many employees in the region, including part-time employee Kvidera.
"I would definitely recommend this format to others," she says. "It allows flexibility to students, and the best benefit is being able to complete your coursework and discuss with students any time of the day."
