SIOUX CITY — Dr. David Wagner doesn’t think it will be too much trouble to balance his time between his original north side practice and his newly opened second office in Morningside.
Wagner is the owner and lead physician at Wagner Ear Nose & Throat, a practice he has operated for more than 20 years at 2730 Pierce St.
In February, he opened a second office at the five-year-old St. Luke’s Sunnybrook Medical Plaza.
“Since this building went up, we’ve had our eyes and hopes on coming out here for awhile,” Wagner said.
The location is staffed on Tuesdays and the occasional Friday by Wagner and Jordan Durham, a registered nurse who has worked with him for about a year.
Wagner credited Durham for having a large role in setting up the new workplace. It was up to her to acquire a lot of the equipment for the office, set it up and arrange the exam and procedure rooms.
The satellite office is located on the first-floor of the state-of-the-art outpatient service center that’s located near most of Sioux City’s major shopping centers, offers surface parking and is just off of U.S. Highway 75.
“It’s going to be a nice environment where we are working side-by-side with some other primary care doctors, immersion care and this is going to become a destination for imaging,” Wagner said.
He noted that Sunnybrook is one of the fastest growing parts of Sioux City and is filled with younger families who Wagner predicts will seek services there.
“This branch office will primarily be for kids general ENT … and also for nose and sinus,” Wagner said.
Additionally, he thinks the location will be convenient for his out-of-town customers since it saves them a trip through the city.
“There’s a group of patients that we will reach and make it easier for them to get ENT specialty care from outlying areas,” Wagner said.
At his primary office on Pierce Street, Wagner’s offers a full range of ENT services, including same day surgeries, consultations and he has more specialty equipment on-hand. The Sunnybrook office will have two exam rooms, a procedure room and office space for Wagner.
Appointments still have to be scheduled through the Pierce Street office, but Wagner noted existing patients don’t need to do any additional work if they want to switch practices. He has access to all of his records through a cloud-based service.
“It’s a great location for convenience and efficiency on this side of town,” Wagner said.
